50th Monochrome Birthday Cake

50 is not the new 40 or even 30, fifty is just 50, so celebrate it with cake.

This 2 tier cake was made for a very glamorous lady who loves to cycle. As I was given carte blanche to decorate it I decided to go with a pretty but stylish look which included her bicycle.

Rose Ruffles are just so pretty and make a real impression just right for a special birthday, so they were an obvious choice on the bottom tier, a rich 8inch chocolate mud cake with milk chocolate Italian meringue buttercream.

Monochrome always gives a really stylish look which was just right for this lovely lady's 50th birthday cake. I stuck with a classic white pearlised fondant finish with a gorgeous black and white ribbon to set the tone on the Top tier. A lovely home made lemon curd and lemon Italian meringue buttercream added an extra lusciousness to the 6 inch lemon drizzle cake.

A handmade silver gum paste model of her bicycle was rested against the cake perfect for such an avid cyclist.

Feeding 24 - 30 people this cake style starts from £140.
